Our
journey
with
Encore
began
in
December
of
2004
when
she
was
brought
to
our
attention
and
we took one look at her and knew that this mare was
going to be a champion. The first show was Asheville, N.C. in March. This would be Encores first
time in the show ring . She came out blazing and won the Mares Classic
class and the Classic Championship.
The
Triple Crown trophy that was sponsored by Signature
Stables had been announced at the UMH Banquet at the first of the year. The first leg was the UMH Spring Premier, and Encore
easily won the Classic Championship. Next up was the Summer
Celebration, again Encore did not disappoint and blew them away with an
outstanding ride. By then, she was the only horse left in the running for the
Triple Crown, so it all came down to the Kentucky State Championships in
Harrodsburg, Kentucky. As it turned out, the Classic Championship was the most watched
class of the night and after a very tough class Encore had again won the Classic
Championship and
therefore
won the Triple Crown!
So what can a mare do to top that? We made the decision
to take her to the Rocky Mountain International. She won the 4 year old Mare
Conformation class which qualified her for the open 3&4 year old Conformation
Championship and she had placed second in the 4 year old mare class
which qualified her for the Mare championship. The first class was the 3 & 4 year
old Conformation Championship. Encore would have to beat some very nice stallions
to win that class, but she won the Championship.
Next up, was the Mare Championship and the Conformation Grand Championship (high place in
both classes added more points and qualified her for the Grand Championship
under saddle). So it all came down to the last class of the night, The Grand Championship Under
Saddle. Boy, what a class it was!When it was over, Encore was Reserve
International Grand Champion and the
SAM Tuttle Memorial Award winner!
This little mare has won more in one year than many of
the stallions ever dreamed of!
